Neon Chrome with the Blade Runner, Neuromancer feel.
Still waiting for the game with the Blade Runner, Neuromancer, Deus-ex and Syndicate feel? look no more as Neon Chrome is here. Especially if you want quick gameplay that you can jump in and out of and still make progress. A top down twin stick shooter with random maps every time you play, some nice boss battles and some good explosions. Did you notice I left out Johnny Mnemonic? It is not worthy. Although written by the same guy who wrote Neuromancer, the idea that the brain can store 80gb of data to transport to a buyer, then double that with a software upgrade because that’s how it works, is a deal breaker.
Neon Chrome isn’t Bladerunner though?
This is correct. It’s the feel that it gives when playing that you are in the same universe. Neon Chrome you battle through the floors of a Mega-Corporation called Neon Chrome. You fight against guards, military, robots while destroying generators, getting keys and so on. At the same time you gain money that can be spent to upgrade you character. The catch? When you die, which you will often, you revive another fighter from stasis and carry on where they left off which is a great twist. There are a few classes you can choose in your next fighter which can change the way you play. But there is enough gun, rockets, grenades and explosive action that is very satisfying. Great to play casually for 20 minutes at a time, and still make progress. Watch the video below.
So, Neon Chrome is where it is at?
This is correct. If you want action, sticky situations, guns and explosions, it is definitely where it is at. Even at full price, this game will give you the enjoyment and $ per hour you seek. No real complaints here, you do have a grind a little to get better equipment and stats, but it makes getting passed where you are stuck, more satisfying. Give it a go and you won’t be disappointed. 7 replicants out of 10 is my rating!
