The first time I played Max Payne 3, I was hooked. It’s probably one of the most addictive shooting games I have ever come across.
So first, a bit of back story about Max. Max is a washed up, alcoholic body guard similar to Bruce Willis’s character in the Die Hard series … or Bruce Willis’s character in The Last Boy Scout … or Bruce Willis’s character in Sin City … or pretty much any other movie Bruce Willis has been in.
With the death of his family, it sees Max sink to new lows. He’s kind of a glass half empty guy. But he manages to retain his dark sense of humour throughout the game and you can’t help to feel a little sorry for the guy.
This game has a great storyline and puts the character into some awesome movie-like scenario’s. Althrough the story is quite linear, you always feel like you are in charge of your own destiny. I love it how things as simple as jumping in an elevator allow you to get more of Max’s back story in between killing baddies.
There are plenty of game modes to add variety to the game to make it one you will play and play again. One thing I really like is the bullet time feature. It allows the game to slow down for just long enough to shoot multiple bad guys. It’s similar to Fallout’s VAT system.
This game is freakin’ awesome and get the tick from Future Released. But save yourself some dosh and grab a low cost steam key for Max Payne 3 from Kinguin.
