We are very glad you asked this question, and we would like to explain who we are, what we do and what we would like to accomplish. We are proud of what we have accomplished with Future Released thus far, and hope that Future Released continues to grow.
How did Future Released come about?
Well, myself (Russell Monck) and an old friend from way back (Jeremy Huggins) started to go fishing on early Sunday mornings, once a month, in the cold, during winter. One would have a few brews while the other behaved themselves to drive. A lot of talk during the drives to and from the areas of fishing, was about the good ol days of gaming. We frequently talked about old games from the PC AT days, to Sega Master System and Megadrive games. Nintendo and 3DO games were brought up as were early PC games from the early 2000’s. But one game that kept coming up was a game from the PC in the early 90’s, called Mines of Titan.
Hey, that’s a great idea! How do we go about making it happen!
Mines of Titan was a great game to us due to the fact it had the atmosphere. Have a look from the screenshot, not exactly riveting, but it’s the places you frequent and character building that made this game memorable and such a joy to play. For your party you had to visit bars to hire party members, and every mercenary had a back story. You would visit casinos to win money, although the casino was flawed as you can save the game before you played, lose, reload the game then win! Train you and your guys in weaponry, security, melee tactics and so on.
We wanted to make a game like this, to capture the atmosphere Mines of Titan did. The grandeur of building you character and to have a unique, hard-biting and gritty story filled with twists and turns, that you had to just play to end to finish the story and tie up loose ends. We have plans down including key points in the story, style of artwork, music, weapons, skills, game type….. But do not have the funds to work on this project full time so this leads to…..
Making games that last 5-10 minutes.
If you click here, it will take you to our first made game, DAMN THOSE… ASTEROIDS. We are going to make a series of DAMN THOSE…games, not to rehash the first game, but to have different games to play. They are designed to kill 5-10 minutes per play so that if you were on the bus, the train, passenger in a car and didn’t want to talk to the driver, at home or just need to kill 5-10 minutes (board meeting, work meeting, mediation with your lawyer, your ex partner and their lawyer, these games will be perfect. We are still making these games with a couple more to be released later on in the year. We also have other games designed on paper ready to put into gaming reality, not just 5-10 minutes killing games, but games with substance and content. This game isn’t available on the Googleplay or ITunes store yet, but we will let you know when it is. And it will be free, FREE we tells ya!
But, this is where our first “Reality” issue came to focus…. (Just in case you don’t read between the lines, time and money.)
We need funding to quit our day jobs and work on games, we need to YOUTUBE!
We want to make quality games with content, great visuals and artwork, fantastic music and sound, some with a ripping story, some with a ripping premise. But to do that we would need to channel all our energies into this, which would require us to quit our fulltime jobs and work 120% on Future Released. But how do we do that, well our first answer was gofundme.com or kickstarter.com, but we have no port-folio or anything as collateral to make this happen. We talked on one of our fishing trip journeys and somehow or another talked about how we could talk about a game while playing and put onto YouTube. The premise was great, we loved playing games, we loved laughing about jokes and games, we loved the sound of our own voices so thought we would give it a go.
Our website, www.futurereleased.com.au
Our website is actually our pride and joy. We are adding content all the time, but this is the brilliant bit, it show cases who we are, what we love, what we loved and our, some would say*, absolute brilliant sense of humour that is so unique and brilliant, it should be put on breakfast cereal boxes. But it also show cases some of our loved games from the past that this generation, and the last generation, have missed out on. We have also put on some very crap games, but this just evens out the cosmos as you can’t have one without the other. Check out our news section by either clicking news above, or just clicking here.
How is Future Released getting funding?
Well, we didn’t just want a free meal ticket (we do, but no one will give us one) so we have to work for the money! In this case we need people to watch our You tube videos, browse through our website reading the news, participating in our forums, downloading and playing our games. This will slowly fund Future Released so that when we make it to a certain point, we can then solely focus on gaming! The more people that get involved, the quicker this objective will eventuate and hopefully at the same time, we can entertain you with our videos and news posts. This will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time. We will be setting up a gofundme.com campaign to help with this, and will inform you when this is all setup and ready to go.
