The old west.
Brutal, unforgiving, lawless and desolate.
And a whole lot of fun while trying to hunt down the murderers of your family.
Saddle on up for some good ol’ rootin’ and tootin’ fun!
Become the man with a taste for revenge, to track down the person that murdered your family and to fill him with your hot lead.
Seriously though, it is a good old fashioned western setting with only a few double entendres thrown in for good measure.
The beautiful thing about this game is that you can play it however you want. One of the features is that you can draw your weapon mid sentence while talking with someone. Then that decision to do, or not to do, is entirely up to you, and just drawing your weapon can change the direction of the conversation. The consequences do stick with you throughout the game.
To find the man, or woman, that murdered your family and to seek revenge.
People did see the culprit but only noticed certain things on how he was dressed, and what they looked like.
You have to solve quests to extract information from certain individuals.
By solving these quests, you will be informed on what type and colour hat, what colour and style of shirt they were wearing and so on.
All leading up to you identifying the heartless criminal, and doing away with them.
You can accuse anybody of doing the crime, but you better have the proof it was them, or the law won’t be on your side.
We did indeed shoot maybe a couple of innocent bystanders, including your uncle at the start of the game, also a coyote, a bunny, some bandits, a hat and quite possibly the Sherriff. I couldn’t find his deputy, so he had to do.
Westerado: double barrelled does give a good feeling of being in the west.
Pixel art graphics, matching music and sound effects make this a very atmospheric game indeed.
Although did find that after a few hours of play, it did become a bit repetitive.
But the replay value of having a few different quests and a completely different family killer when you restart, does make up for it.
Currently full price at USD$14.99, I think this is overpriced and would only buy around the USD$10 mark or below.
