What exactly is a Nidhogg?
Google it I say, but it is something to do with a worm.
But this is a minor problem as you are too busy trying to survive sword fights, mano o mano, to really worry about what exactly a Nidhogg is.
One of the most simple, addictive, frustrating and rewarding games that we have played in some time.
After many dying streaks, there is something in getting revenge that is just so super sweet, it gets taken away from you 10 seconds later.
But those 10 seconds are very glorious indeed, that you have to be careful stepping back down from your desk, because when you got vengeance, you wanted the entire world to know about it even though it was accidental.
Watch below and you will see the winning streaks, the losing streaks, and the pure joy of winning your first session even if it might be by pure luck!
Everything about this game matches the mood it intends. Urgency, desperation, meaning and vegenence are easily conveyed with the pixel art graphics and matching soundtrack.
Every feign, dodge, jump, sword throw, parry and out witting of your opponent (and you) is captured perfectly.
You could say this is the old fashioned Prince of Persia from the 1990’s, but without the platforming and story. Which if you just want a game you can jump in and out of quickly, then this is for you!
At the time of publishing this post, the full price of this game was USD$15.
In my opinion, I do think this is a pretty steep price for this game. I wouldn’t pay more than USD$10
But if you visit our friends at Kinguin to buy a cheap copy of NIDHOGG, you won’t be disappointed.
And if you are, I will see you in the arena so we can duel it out!
